Maxim Rysanov United Kingdom
British-Ukranian musician Maxim Rysanov studied conducting with Alan Hazeldine at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where he also received his education as a violist. He also participated in masterclasses with Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Jorma Panula and most recently has been mentored by Oleg Caetani.

As a renowned soloist himself, Maxim understands the intricacies of working with soloists, and has had successful musical collaborations with Nicola Benedetti, Kristina Blaumane, Boris Brovtsyn, Leonard Elschenbroich, Vilde Frang, Janine Jansen, Sergei Krylov, Dóra Kokas, Mischa Maisky, Domenico Nordio, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Barnabás Kelemen, Ashley Wass, Susanna Yoko Henkel, Benjamin Yusupov, and Kelemen Quartet among others.
He featured as both conductor and soloist on the debut disc of composer Dobrinka Tabakova (ECM) in 2013 - a disc that reached number 2 in the UK classical charts and was shortlisted for a Grammy Award in the USA. In June 2017 Onyx released a double CD devoted to music by and inspired by Schubert, in which Maxim both conducted and played. It was listed as Classic FMʼs Best New Recordings, KDFC Album of the Week and KUSC Album of the Week. Maxim will return to the studio for a disc of Peteris Vasks (BIS) later this year which includes Symphony No 1, Voices as well as the new Viola Concerto dedicated to him.
Conducting engagements in the coming season include debuts with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra, Ukrainian Festival Orchestra, Russian State Academic Orchestra, Tatarstan State Symphony Orchestra, as well as return invitations to the La Verdi Orchestra Milano, Riga Sinfonietta, and the Detmold Chamber Orchestra.
